Breast augmentation is a proven cosmetic surgery procedure that uses silicone or saline breast implants to enhance the size of a patient’s breasts. Enhancement surgery is typically performed because of a patient’s general dissatisfaction with the size and shape of her breasts, or to restore the fullness or volume lost after weight loss, breast cancer surgery, or childbirth.
TYPES OF IMPLANTS: There are many styles, shapes, and materials from which to choose when it comes to selecting breast implants. Silicone and saline breast implants are both FDA approved, and widely used in the United States as well as other countries. Both silicone and saline implants are made using a translucent outer shell, composed of a substance called silicone elastomer.
